ISU Enforcement Circular 24.10.2017
Following on from various incidents involving ICE Arrest Teams, there have been queries as to whether or not IE officers should be undertaking arrests whilst on compliance visits which has resulted in varying answers and approaches from across the regions. The ISU have been involved in discussions with the department as we were of the opinion that these types of operational visits were strictly for intelligence gathering purposes only and this view has been vindicated by the departmental Assurance Unit. Aside from any arrests for obstruction etc, the primary objective of compliance visits is to garner intelligence and not to arrest subjects. As ever, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.
